If you're anything like me, the idea of hosting a big party for the holidays stresses you out. I totally get it—between prepping the food, decorating the house, and making sure everyone has a good time, there's a lot to think about! But don't worry, I'm here to help. With a little planning and some tips from yours truly, you can throw an amazing shindig that your friends will be talking about for months to come.
What To Eat
One of the most important aspects of any party is the food! You want to make sure you have enough to feed everyone, but you also don't want to be stuck in the kitchen all night.
A great way to strike this balance is to have a mix of both finger foods and heartier dishes. For example, you could do veggie platters with dips, mini pizzas, sliders, falafel and more. This way people can graze throughout the evening without getting too full (or too drunk).
Another idea you can use is encouraging your guests to bring a signature dish from their cultural background. If there’s anything people love doing is showing off their family recipes that slap every time.
What To Drink
Another thing to consider is whether or not you want your party to be BYOB or not. If so, make sure you have enough glasses and mixers on hand.
And if you're feeling extra generous, you could even create a signature cocktail for your guests! Nothing says "party" like a festive drink in hand.A very festive sangria that you can make a big batch of will always win over any crowd!
Choosing the Perfect Playlist
No party is complete without music! But picking the right playlist can be tough. You want something that will get people dancing but won't be so loud that people can't carry on a conversation. A great way to achieve this balance is to create a playlist with a mix of fast and slow songs. This way people can dance when they feel like it and take a breather when they need it. Another tip? Make sure to include some classics that everyone knows and loves—nothing gets a party going like a sing-along!
